Three Countries, One Festival at the Tri-Border Area
Weil am Rhein is located at the southwestern tip of Germany — a few hundred meters from Basel/Switzerland and Huningue/France. This geographical location at the tri-border area is the backdrop for the 3-Country-City-Festival, which will take place on June 12th to 13th, 2026, on the Weil am Rhein town hall square. The festival focuses on European open-air music and brings together bands from several countries.
Friday Headliners — Gallowstreet from the Netherlands
The opening on Friday, June 12th, 2026, starting at 5:00 PM, will feature local acts: Stadtmusik Weil am Rhein (5:00 PM) and Bonds Big Band. From 9:00 PM, the headliner block begins: Gallowstreet from the Netherlands — a unique Electrobrass collective from Amsterdam that merges brass band tradition with electronic music and dance beats. Followed by Riserva Moac from Italy.
Saturday Headliners — Loi and Dikanda
On Saturday, June 13th, 2026, the program will also start in the late afternoon. Headliners from 9:00 PM: Loi — the singer from Mannheim with her viral pop hit (German pop charts success, mainstream attention). Before her, Dikanda from Poland will perform — a renowned world music ensemble that performs Slavic, Jewish, Yiddish, and Balkan traditions with rousing energy.
'Vereinsmeile' with 20+ Stalls
Alongside the stage program, over 20 clubs, restaurants, and stalls on the 'Vereinsmeile' will provide catering. The culinary offerings range from Swabian Spätzle and Maultaschen, to Baden specialties (Schäufele, Bibeleskäs), Swiss cheese fondue, Alsatian Flammkuchen, and Mediterranean specialties. Marching bands from Basel, France, and Germany will liven up the Sparkassenplatz corner of the festival.
Sparkasse Markgräflerland as Main Sponsor
The main sponsor of the festival is Sparkasse Markgräflerland — the regional bank for the Markgräflerland and the Weil am Rhein/Lörrach region. Starting May 12th, 2026, a new support button for €5 will also be available, allowing visitors to support the festival. The button can be purchased at the public library in Weil am Rhein.
Weil am Rhein and the Tri-Border Area
The town of Weil am Rhein, with a population of around 31,000, is located in the Lörrach district, in the extreme southwest of Germany. Across the Rhine, it's only minutes to the Swiss city of Basel (with the Vitra Design Museum nearby) and to Huningue/France — the city is a commuter destination for many Swiss and French, and also an important day-trip location in reverse. The 3-Country-City-Festival reflects this cosmopolitan tri-border atmosphere.
