The Schambach Volunteer Fire Brigade will celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2026 with a four-day festival week at the picturesque Wasserschloss Schambach. Schambach is a district of the municipality Straßkirchen in the district of Straubing-Bogen. From May 14th to 17th, 2026, the historic castle grounds will be transformed into a festival site with a Gäuboden Oldtimer Meeting, folk music afternoon, flag consecration, and a grand procession. The historic flag from 1876 will be solemnly consecrated.

FFW Schambach 150 Years — edition 2026

The 150th founding festival of FFW Schambach in 2026 will be celebrated from Thursday, May 14th (Ascension Day), to Sunday, May 17th, at Wasserschloss Schambach. The program includes the Gäuboden Oldtimer Meeting on Thursday, the folk music afternoon on Saturday, and the consecration of the historic 1876 club flag on Sunday.

The dates for 2026 have been officially confirmed by the Straubing-Bogen District Fire Brigade Association and the municipality of Straßkirchen. The festival weekend begins on Ascension Day (May 14th) with the traditional Gäuboden Oldtimer Meeting, organized by the interest group "Nostalgiefahrzeuge Straubing/Straßkirchen" and the "Historische Fahrzeuge" regulars' table. Pre-war models, racing cars from various eras, luxury cars, post-war miracle cars, as well as historic tractors and motorcycles are expected.

On Saturday, May 16th, from 2 PM to 5 PM, a Folk Music Afternoon for Seniors with Gstanzl singer Hubert Stettmeier is scheduled. The highlight follows on Sunday, May 17th, with the consecration of the historic 1876 club flag at Wasserschloss. The festival week will be accompanied by a large festival tent with catering, live music, and dance evenings.

Four Days of Fire Brigade History at Wasserschloss

Founded in 1876, the Schambach Volunteer Fire Brigade is one of the oldest fire brigades in the Gäuboden region. To mark its 150th anniversary, it is hosting a multi-day founding festival in 2026 on the grounds of Wasserschloss Schambach — one of the most atmospheric festival settings in Lower Bavaria.

Wasserschloss Schambach

Wasserschloss Schambach is a late medieval complex with a surrounding moat, nestled in the Gäuboden landscape between the Danube and the Vorderer Bayerischer Wald. It forms the natural stage for the festival weekend — historically fitting for a club anniversary rooted in the 19th century.
