Two Castles – One Town Festival
Mirow has two castle sites: the famous Castle Island with the baroque main castle, the birthplace of Queen Charlotte, and the lesser-known Lower Castle in the town center. The Two Castles Festival connects both sites into a joint town festival, thus highlighting the dual heritage of Mirow's history. The premiere in 2025 was a complete success and is considered a "real new beginning" for Mirow's festival culture (quote from DJ legend Rainer Smentek).
Program Structure – Quiet Summer Sunday
The festival is designed as a day-long town festival. It begins in the morning with an ecumenical service and an early morning drinks session with the Mirow Fire Brigade Band, continues in the afternoon with live music, and features an antique and flea market on Castle Island, concluding in the early evening. Not a loud, large festival, but a relaxed mix of town festival and club life.
Venue
The main stage is the Lower Castle; Castle Island simultaneously hosts the antique and flea market. The festival thus utilizes the walkable proximity of the two historic sites and combines tradition (service, fire brigade band) with entertainment (country music, Wilk & Friends).
Mirow's 800th Anniversary Celebration 2027
The 2025 Two Castles Festival marked the start of a multi-year festival series, culminating in 2027 when Mirow celebrates 800 years of town history. Mayor Henry Tesch and organizer Peter Domke (PHÖNIX Event & Catering) see the festival as a community-building format that will be further developed in the coming years.
Getting There
By regional train from Berlin (via Neustrelitz) or Rostock to Mirow. By car, take the A19 / A20 (exit Röbel/Müritz). The castle ensemble is centrally located, with parking available in the town center.
