Medieval market centered around historical forest beekeeping
The Zeidlermarkt Feucht is one of the most atmospheric medieval markets in Middle Franconia. It takes place in the town center of the market community Feucht in the Nürnberger Land district in Bavaria and attracts numerous visitors from the Nuremberg metropolitan region every year.
The namesake is Zeidlerei, the medieval forest beekeeping. The Lorenzer Reichswald forest around Feucht was one of the most important centers for Zeidler (forest beekeepers) for centuries. The local Zeidelmuseum, which offers guided tours during the market, also commemorates this tradition.
The market opens with cannon shots, followed by a grand medieval procession. At the market, craftsmen demonstrate old skills such as blacksmithing, pottery, and woodturning, complemented by camp life, mock combats, and the traditional capture of prominent guests by the medieval reenactors.
From the afternoon onwards, the family program takes center stage: jugglers, magicians, and storytellers entertain young and old. Children can actively participate in knight games, a knight's tournament, and sand painting.
Accompanying this, the Sunday with open shops from 1 PM to 6 PM invites visitors for a shopping stroll, combining historical market activities with the local retail trade.
On Sunday, May 3, 2026, Feucht will once again transform into a medieval market town for the 14th Zeidlermarkt. The opening will take place at 12:45 PM at the Reichswaldhalle, accompanied by cannon shots. In parallel, medieval market stalls will offer traditional crafts such as blacksmithing, pottery, and woodturning. From 1 PM, the first grand procession will march through the town center, followed by art and sales stands as well as the Sunday with open shops until 6 PM. From 2 PM, the family program will be the focus.
Feucht is located in the Nürnberger Land district southeast of Nuremberg and is easily accessible by S-Bahn (line S3) and via the A9 motorway. The market takes place centrally in the town center around the Reichswaldhalle.
Admission to the Zeidlermarkt is free.
A guided tour of the Zeidelmuseum (from 1:30 PM) complements the market visit with exciting insights into historical forest beekeeping.
