Maritime Volksfest at the Gateway to the Island of Usedom
The Wolgast Harbour Days are the most traditional and largest festival in the town of Wolgast and are among the best-known maritime Volksfeste in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. At the beginning of July each year, the town harbour on the Peenestrom – on both the Schlossinsel and the mainland side – transforms into an extensive festival mile. The Harbour Days are organised by Usedom Tourismus GmbH together with the town of Wolgast, presented by Ostseewelle HIT-RADIO.
The heart of the festival is the maritime programme: The dragon boat race pits teams against each other on Saturday morning, the traditional Neptune festival provides popular entertainment, and the sea rescue demonstrations by the DGzRS impressively showcase the work of the sea rescuers. Two fireworks displays over the Peenestrom form the evening highlights.
A varied show and music programme runs on two stages over the three days. Carousels and rides from showmen, a long traders' mile with arts and crafts and culinary stalls, as well as numerous hands-on activities make the Harbour Days a festival for the whole family.
Wolgast in the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald is also called the "Gateway to the Island of Usedom" because the bridge over the Peenestrom to Germany's largest Baltic Sea island leads here. The Harbour Days build on the long shipbuilding and harbour tradition of the Peene town and are an integral part of the summer on the Pomeranian coast.
From July 3rd to 5th, 2026, Wolgast will celebrate the 57th edition of its Harbour Days in the town harbour on the Peenestrom.
A show programme will run on two stages, carousels and a traders' mile will line the festival grounds. Maritime highlights include the 4th Dragon Boat Race on Saturday, the traditional Neptune Festival, sea rescue demonstrations, and two fireworks displays over the Peenestrom.
Admission to the festival grounds is free. Individual attractions, rides, and catering stands are subject to a charge.
