Walsroder Mittwoch — Open Air Cinema and Merqury

Walsroder Mittwoch (WaMi) 2026

The Walsroder Mittwoch is a summer series organized by Stadtmarketing Walsrode, firmly established in the capital of the Heidekreis region. In 2026, the series will run on four Wednesday evenings with different musical and cultural programs: Gaz Guzzlers (Soul Show) on May 20, The Keltics (Kiltrock) on June 3, Das Fiasko (Party Band) on July 1, and finally, Open Air Cinema with Merqury on August 5. The WaMi on August 5 is thus the conclusion of the series and the most unusual format: a double concept of film and live concert.

Open Air Cinema

Open Air Cinema in Walsrode's city center uses a large screen and an open-air sound system. The film to be shown will be announced by the organizer in the summer of 2026. Based on past experience, family or summer comedies that appeal to a broad audience are usually chosen. Picnic baskets and blankets brought from home are welcome.

Merqury — Live Concert

Merqury is a cover band specializing in the repertoire of the legendary rock group Queen. The band performs before or after the film program, bringing concert atmosphere to Walsrode's city center with hits like “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Don't Stop Me Now,” and “We Will Rock You.” The combination of open-air atmosphere and powerful live music makes the evening a special experience.

WaMi Event Format

All WaMi events in 2026 are designed as open-air events from 6 PM to 11 PM. Admission is free. Catering is available on-site — with drinks, food stalls, and summer coffee. The WaMi evenings are organized by Behnke Eventservice and Ahlden Showman Company on behalf of Stadtmarketing.

Stadtmarketing Walsrode is an association that promotes the revitalization of the city center through events, advertising campaigns, and promotions. The Walsroder Mittwoch is one of Stadtmarketing's most important summer formats and contributes to the vibrancy of the city center.
