Bahnstraße as a Festival Mile
The Wittenberg Wine and Beer Mile is one of the most popular summer festivals in the Prignitz region: on a single Saturday evening, Bahnstraße — the central axis connecting the train station and the Kulturhaus — fills with festival-goers from all over the region. On June 20, 2026, it's that time again. From the Kulturhaus to the Historic Engine Shed, past the Güterboden, the old industrial quarter, and the Prignitz Galerie, a chain of around 20 stalls and four stages will be set up. The city of Wittenberge organizes the festival annually; the timeframe is tight — 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM — but the five hours are packed.
Four Stages, Four Styles
The mile is musically diverse. On the Güterboden — right by the old engine shed — the band Prignitzfabrik, a regional group familiar with the festival crowd for years, will perform. In "Martha's Wohnzimmer" at the corner of Auguststraße, Nige Bray from Manchester will perform — Rock, Pop, Blues, with an English touch. At the Feuerwehr-Blulight-Stand at the corner of Rathausstraße, Old Green Clover will play "Irish Folk, Oldies and more" — a must-see for anyone who appreciates a pint and a banjo. On the LAGA stage at Paul-Lincke-Platz, Dear Robin from Rostock can be heard.
New in 2026: Rooftop Party at Prignitz Galerie
An important program expansion for 2026: the Rooftop Party on the roof of the Prignitz Galerie, curated by DJ Roy Hartung from Quitzow. He will be joined by several other DJs — Roy, STB, Ilja, Nik Night. Admission to the Rooftop Party: €10 in advance, €15 at the door. Those who want an overview of the entire Bahnstraße and enjoy electronic music with a great view will find themselves right at home here.
Wine, Beer, and Street Food
Around 20 stalls along Bahnstraße will serve regional beers, wines, and cocktails. Participating vendors include the D.ASS Bier brewery, the Wittstock liqueur producer, and the event caterer Theo Dierks. In addition, there will be a variety of snacks and small dishes — from bratwurst and burgers to vegetarian options. FSV Veritas will host a doubles foosball tournament, which requires pre-registration.
Wittenberge — Industrial City on the Elbe
Wittenberge, with about 17,000 inhabitants, is one of the largest towns in the Prignitz region, located on the Elbe River and historically closely linked to the railway: significant Imperial Railway repair works were located here, shaping the cityscape to this day. Bahnstraße, where the festival takes place, leads directly from a former railway industrial zone to the city center. The festival backdrop — brick, remnants of tracks, old factory halls — is authentically industrial and gives the Wine and Beer Mile a character that oscillates between a harbor festival and a rooftop bar. Those who wish to extend their weekend can combine it with a visit to the Elbe Cycle Route or a day trip to Lenzen with its castle museum.
