Hoffest at the Loreley-Kellerei with Middle Rhine Riesling and vintner's cuisine as part of the region's spring program
The Mittelrhein Weinfrühling (Middle Rhine Wine Spring) is an event established for years by the Romantic Rhine tourism region. In May and early June, wineries between Bonn and Bingen open their courtyards – sometimes as a central open-air festival, sometimes as a Hoffest of the individual operation, sometimes as a guided cellar tour with tasting. The joint marketing umbrella makes orientation easier for visitors and creates a seasonal atmosphere in which the Middle Rhine wineries are perceived as a collective scene.
The Loreley-Kellerei in Sankt Goarshausen is located directly at the foot of the famous Loreley rock, in the right-hand Rhine section of the UNESCO World Heritage site. The steep slopes around the Loreley and on the opposite bank near St. Goar are among the most demanding and highest quality sites in the Middle Rhine – hand-tended vineyards with high sun exposure and mineral slate soils.
At the Hoffest on May 24, 2026, starting at 11 a.m., the winery opens its doors. The focus is on a wide selection of its own wines – especially Riesling in various styles and vineyard sites, alongside Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) and occasionally specialties such as Sekt (sparkling wine) from the house. Tastings are possible spontaneously at the bar as well as in a moderated format.
The tasting is accompanied culinarily by the Winzerküche (vintner's cuisine): regional specialties from the Middle Rhine-Hunsrück region, from Spundekäs (cream cheese with peppers and onions) and Flammkuchen to warm specialties and cakes. The exact menu depends on the host. Guided vineyard walks, short cellar tours, and conversations with the vintner himself are also often offered.
The format is intimate and intended for wine lovers who seek direct contact with the vintner rather than a mass festival.
The 2026 festival is part of the region-wide 'Mittelrhein Weinfrühling' event, with which the region opens the wine season. The Loreley-Kellerei uses this cooperation to attract guests from the entire Rhine-Main area and beyond.
The exact program for 2026 (wine selection, menu, possible special activities such as cellar tours) will be published by the organizer in spring. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of similar Hoffeste: opening in the morning, open bar service all day, catering by the winery itself, winding down in the late afternoon.
