Summer in the Luther Town means Courtyard Concerts
Since 1997, the Wittenberg Art Association has organized the Wittenberg Courtyard Concerts — a concert series that runs throughout the year, taking place in the most beautiful courtyards and open-air venues of the Luther Town. 2026 is an anniversary year: the 30th season. In the state of Saxony-Anhalt, in the Wittenberg district, the series is considered a cultural constant, reliably drawing a regular audience from the region and day-trippers from Berlin and Leipzig into the old town.
Venues
What makes the Courtyard Concerts special is the ambiance: the Castle Courtyard, the Courtyard of the Old Prison, Arsenal Square, the Castle Meadow, the Stadthaus, and the inner courtyard of the historic town hall. Each concert finds its ideal venue — chamber music formats in the Stadthaus, pop concerts on the Castle Meadow, Christmas Specials in the Stadthaus.
Lineup 2026 — a Best-Of for the Anniversary Season
Confirmed concerts for 2026: Jassi'n (Arsenal Square, April 30 — sold out), Mazze Wiesner & Band (Old Prison Courtyard, June 26), Michael Krebs (Old Prison Courtyard, June 27), Die Prinzen (Castle Meadow, August 21), Falco — The Show with Alexander Kerbst (Castle Courtyard, August 28), Die Feisten (Family Festival in the Castle Courtyard, August 29), and the Bidla Buh Christmas Special (Stadthaus, November 20). Tickets often include catering.
Concept and Organization
The concept has remained unchanged for decades: curated, well-maintained, with a sense of atmosphere. An average of 200–800 seats per concert — so you're close to the artist, but with full stage production. Concerts often sell out quickly.
