Kirwa in the Schlosspark
The Schwarzenfelder Kirwa takes place in the Schlosspark of Schwarzenfeld, a market town in the district of Schwandorf in the Oberpfalz region of Eastern Bavaria. The park-like setting around the castle gives the Kirchweih a special atmosphere and distinguishes it from purely street-based Kirwa festivals.

The Kirwa is celebrated on the first weekend of September over four days. As is typical for Upper Palatinate Kirchweihen, a Kirwabaum (Kirwa tree), festival activities, music, and social gatherings characterize the event. The municipality of Schwarzenfeld is the organizer.
New Festival Host from 2026
With the 2026 edition, Daniel Feuerer takes over as the new festival host, responsible for catering at the Schwarzenfelder Kirwa. This marks the beginning of a new chapter for one of the most important festivals in the market's calendar.

The Kirwa is firmly anchored in the district of Schwandorf. It combines traditional customs with the convivial character of a village festival and is a central meeting point for locals and guests from the region.
Schwarzenfelder Kirwa — edition 2026
For 2026, the Schwarzenfelder Kirwa is confirmed from September 4th to 7th in the Schlosspark, according to the municipality of Schwarzenfeld. The detailed program was not yet available at the time of editorial deadline ("Program to follow").
With the 2026 edition, Daniel Feuerer takes over as the new festival host for catering at the Kirwa. As usual, a Kirwabaum, multi-day festival activities, music, and convivial Upper Palatinate Kirwa customs are expected in the park-like setting around the castle.
