Wine festival with a parade in the old town at the foot of the Drachenfels
The Winzerfest Königswinter takes place in one of North Rhine-Westphalia's most beautiful settings: in the historic old town at the foot of the Drachenfels, right on the Rhine. Tourismus Siebengebirge GmbH organizes the festival together with local vintners, associations, and restaurateurs.
The 2026 edition, from October 2nd to 4th, features two musical heavyweights: On Friday, October 2nd, the mayor will officially open the festival, followed by Still Funky on the main stage at the market square. On Saturday, October 3rd (German Unity Day), the band Gooseflesh takes over. On Sunday, October 4th, from 12:30 PM, parade floats, music bands, and traditional costume groups will march through Königswinter's old town.
The focus is on wine: at the wine stands, vintners from Mittelrhein, Ahr, and Rheingau will be serving their own wines. Classics like Riesling, Spätburgunder, and Federweißer are featured. Accompanied by Flammkuchen, Reibekuchen, cheese specialties, and sweet temptations from local gastronomy.
The parade on Sunday afternoon is the tradition many visitors await: embedded in the customs of the Rhenish wine region, costume couples, music bands, decorated floats, and vintners with their wine queens will march through the old town streets towards the Rhine. An intergenerational experience, also ideal for families.
Königswinter is located in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia, directly opposite Bad Godesberg on the right bank of the Rhine. The town is the gateway to the Siebengebirge — one of Germany's oldest nature reserves. The Drachenfels with its ruins and the historic Drachenfelsbahn funicular is the landmark. Visitors to the wine festival can ideally combine their trip with a hike.
