Four-day wine festival in the Marktstraße — four Winnenden wineries transform the city center into a wine mile
The Winnender Weintage is the city of Winnenden's major wine festival in the Rems-Murr district. Four Winnenden-based wineries annually transform the central Marktstraße into a wine mile for four days — a very personal form of wine festival where the vintners themselves become hosts, rather than an anonymous club structure managing the hospitality. The 2026 edition runs from August 28 to 31.
The following four wineries are the organizers:
These four family wineries shape viticulture in Winnenden and its immediate surroundings. At the wine festival, they present their wines: dry whites from Riesling, Müller-Thurgau, and Kerner, robust reds from Trollinger, Spätburgunder, and Lemberger, as well as regional cuvées. Württemberg wine in its most authentic form — from the producers themselves.
The opening ceremony takes place on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 6:30 PM at the Altan (bay window balcony) of the old town hall — a traditional opening with a tap ceremony and a short welcome speech. Following this, the festival runs for four days:
In addition to classic wine stands, the wineries offer summery cocktails and — a specialty — wine slush drinks: chilled, semi-frozen mixtures of white or rosé wine and fruit syrup, ideal for balmy summer evenings. Classic festival food (bratwurst, Maultaschen, regional cheeses) complements the culinary offerings.
'Wandering musicians' — small ensembles that set up at various points along the Marktstraße — shape the festival's atmosphere. Unlike large stage concerts, this creates an intimate musical backdrop evenly distributed across the festival mile. Strollers will repeatedly discover new sonic situations. The concept positions the Winnender Weintage as 'one of the city's most significant social gatherings in late summer'.
Winnenden, with its approximately 28,000 inhabitants, is located northeast of Stuttgart. The town, situated at the transition from the Rems Valley to the Welzheimer Forest, has a historic center with Winnental Castle and the old town hall, a vibrant city center, and growing wine tourism. The Rems and Murr valleys are among the classic Württemberg wine regions — Trollinger and Lemberger are the leading grape varieties here. The Winnender Weintage bring this regional wine culture to the city center.
