Free & Outdoors on the Jahnwiese
The Wild Tunes Festival is one of Bamberg's younger, but most likeable summer events. The non-profit association Bamberger Festivals e.V. organizes the weekend according to the pure "Umsonst & Draußen" principle: free admission, a stage right in the middle of the Jahnwiese on the banks of the Regnitz, and a program curated with love for the scene.
The event mixes regional young bands from the Upper Franconian area with "up-and-coming headliners" from the supra-regional indie, rock, and singer-songwriter scene. The program is deliberately not announced in full beforehand – musical surprises are part of the concept.
On Saturday, a second-hand market opens on the festival meadow: around 40 stalls with clothing, vinyl, and vintage finds. Food trucks provide culinary catering, and information stands from regional initiatives complement the offerings. A dedicated poetry slam session brings spoken word to the meadow on Saturday afternoon.
The Jahnwiese is located in close proximity to the historic island city and is easily accessible by bike or on foot from Bamberg's city center. The festival thus fits into the rich summer program of the Upper Franconian UNESCO World Heritage city in the Bamberg district.
The 2026 edition continues the established "Umsonst & Draußen" (Free & Outdoors) concept by Bamberger Festivals e.V. The organizer and main sponsor Sparkasse Bamberg invites you for two days to the open-air stage on the banks of the Regnitz.
In addition to the concerts, Saturday will feature around 40 carefully selected stalls with second-hand clothing and records, its own poetry slam round, as well as food trucks and information stands from regional initiatives.
The full line-up will be published in early summer 2026 at bambergerfestivals.de.
Free admission for all program items. The association welcomes donations and purchases at the drink stands, which finance the festival.
The Jahnwiese (An der Galgenfuhr 30, 96049 Bamberg) is located on the west bank of the Regnitz, about a 20-minute walk from Bamberg main station. It's ideally accessible by bike via the Main-Danube Canal cycle path.
Completely free (Umsonst & Draußen). Donations for the association are welcome.
Food trucks on site; bringing your own drinks and food is generally not permitted, as the association is financed through beverage sales.
