The Weinwandertag Obertürkheim is a fixed date in Stuttgart's spring calendar: On Ascension Day — in 2026, that's Thursday, May 14 — a hike starts through the vineyards of eastern Stuttgart. Starting from Obertürkheim station, the route goes uphill to Ailenberg and through the vineyards of the Trautwein family and their neighbors. Four tasting stations punctuate the path — a mix of a sporting hike and a wine tasting.

Four Tasting Stations Along the Way

The four tasting stations are set up by vintners and families from Obertürkheim. They serve their Trollinger, Lemberger, Riesling, Müller-Thurgau, and other Württemberg classics directly in the vineyards. Between stations, the walk continues on foot — the route leads through the typical steep slopes of the Stuttgart wine-growing region with its characteristic stone walls.

The Trautwein Family and the Restaurant Zur Linde

The Trautwein family from the traditional restaurant "Zur Linde" in Obertürkheim is responsible for the culinary catering at the start, stations, and finish. Sausage salad, Maultaschen, Swabian Vesper classics, plus sweets from the cake buffet — a Swabian midday meal in the vineyards without the stress of a restaurant visit.

Destination: The Historic Obertürkheim Kelter

The hiking route ends at the historic Obertürkheim Kelter — one of the most important wine-growing buildings in the Stuttgart wine region. Here, the day concludes with further tastings, live music (typically Swabian folk music or accordion), and a relaxed Hocketse atmosphere. Thousands of Stuttgart residents and guests from the greater metropolitan area use the public holiday for the tour.

Obertürkheim is a district in eastern Stuttgart on the Neckar River, traditionally a wine village.
