Annual wine hike in the Neuweier vineyards — 8 km, five tasting stations, organized by the Heimatverein Rebläuse
The Weinwandertag Neuweier is organized every year in May by the Heimatverein Neuweierer Rebläuse e.V. “Rebläuse” is an affectionately ironic name — the phylloxera (Reblaus) is actually a pest that almost wiped out European viticulture in the 19th century; the association humorously adopts the name. The association preserves Neuweier's local history and customs traditions and organizes this annual wine hike as its main event. The exact date for 2026 has not yet been officially published as of the research; traditionally, the hike takes place on the 3rd Sunday in May — presumably therefore May 17, 2026 (or an adjacent weekend; confirmation will be provided on the association's website).
The hiking route is approximately 8 kilometers through the vineyards around Neuweier — gentle ups and downs of the Baden Middle Black Forest foothills with views of the Rhine Valley. The start and finish is the Baden-Badener Weinhaus am Mauerberg (Mauerbergstraße 32, Neuweier). The route is documented on the association's website with a map and GPX file. Hikers can start flexibly between 9:30 AM and 2 PM — no central start event. There are five tasting stations set up along the route, each managed by a local club or heritage organization.
Each of the five stations offers different specialties and its own atmosphere:
In addition, there will be refreshments with regional specialties — Flammkuchen, Bratwurst, Black Forest ham variations, homemade cakes. 360° views of the tasting stands are available on the association's website.
Neuweier has been a district of Baden-Baden since 1972 (city district 08211, entire city around 56,000 inhabitants; Neuweier itself has about 2,500 inhabitants). It is located southwest of the city center on the slope of the Middle Black Forest, with a view of the Rhine Valley. The vineyards around Neuweier are one of the northernmost wine-growing areas of the Black Forest foothills — the specialty is the Mauerberger, a typical northern Baden Riesling. The Heimatverein Rebläuse cultivates the connection between viticulture, local tradition, and tourism in this charming district.
The 2026 edition continues the centuries-old tradition of the Heimatverein Rebläuse. The 8 km tour through the Neuweier vineyards is a relaxed, all-day family hike with five stations where local clubs offer wines, food, and occasional musical entertainment.
The exact dates for 2026 — Sunday, May 17 (3rd Sunday) — align with the established tradition; they will be officially confirmed by the association a few weeks before the event.
Admission: €3 per person (includes hiking map, tasting glass, program booklet). Wine at tasting stations at sample prices (typically €1–€3 per glass). Food and non-alcoholic drinks at market prices.
