International 2vs2 Battle for Breaking, Hip-Hop, Locking, and Funk in the Bénazetsaal
The Good-Good Battle brings together what rarely comes together: the international urban dance scene and the historic Bénazetsaal of the Kurhaus Baden-Baden, one of Germany's most beautiful Belle Époque halls. In a 2vs2 format, crews from all over the world compete against each other — Breaking, Hip-Hop, Locking, and Funk are merged into a competition that rewards versatility rather than stylistic purity. You'll experience dancers switching between power moves, top rock, locks, and funk steps.
Experienced DJs mix the beats live: Boom Bap (classic Hip-Hop), Jazz, Funk, and Soul. These musical genres are by no means accidental — they form the musical roots of Breaking and Hip-Hop, and many crews train to precisely these rhythms. An international jury of professional dancers and choreographers judges each round: musicality (how do the dancers react to the beat?), creativity (what variations, what surprises?), and technique (cleanliness of the moves).
Doors open at 5 PM with warm-up activities, main event starts at 6 PM. It begins with qualification rounds — all registered 2-person crews dance against others, and the jury selects the best 16 or 8 for the main round. Then it's a knockout system: round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals, final. A battle lasts a few minutes per round — the dancers have limited time, so they must give their all on the dance floor. Suitable for ages 5 and up, children under 12 must be accompanied.
The fact that an international Breaking battle is taking place in Baden-Baden is part of the spa town's deliberate strategy: alongside the casino, classical music, and art, Baden-Baden also wants to appeal to younger audiences. The Good-Good Battle is in its 3rd edition in 2026 at the Bénazetsaal — a successful establishment of urban culture in a classic setting. The organizer is Team Combo from Karlsruhe, one of Southwest Germany's most important Breaking crews.
