Hitschehauser Kerb on the third weekend of October with three live music evenings and amusement rides
The Kerwe Hütschenhausen, or Hitschehauser Kerb for short, is a classic of the West Palatinate festival calendar. It has been held for generations in the central market square in front of the primary school and attracts thousands of visitors every year from the Kaiserslautern, Landstuhl, and Ramstein-Miesenbach areas.
Hütschenhausen is located in the western Kaiserslautern district, nestled between Glan-Münchweiler, Ramstein-Miesenbach, and Landstuhl. The town is easily accessible via the federal road B 423 and the A 62 motorway (Bruchmühlbach-Miesau exit). The market square in front of the primary school is completely transformed into a festival area during the Kerwe.
The Kerwe follows a proven format with three live music evenings, several amusement rides, a cocktail bar, and a selection of sweets ranging from candied almonds to crêpes and classic cotton candy. Palatinate specialties such as Schwenker (grilled meat skewers), Bratwurst (sausage), Saumagen (stuffed pig's stomach), Dampfnudeln (sweet steamed dumplings), beer, and Weinschorle (wine spritzer) are served in the festival tent.
As with many Kerwen in the West Palatinate, the festival is largely organized by local clubs: the fire department, sports club, music club, and the Hitschehauser Karnevalists share the catering and setup/dismantling. The proceeds from the Kerwe go towards the clubs' activities and thus back into village life.
Hütschenhausen can be reached by bus from Landstuhl (line 175) and from Kaiserslautern (via Ramstein). Those arriving by car can park for free in the meadows on the outskirts of the town. Overnight accommodation is available in the surrounding towns of Landstuhl, Ramstein-Miesenbach, and Kaiserslautern.
The 2026 edition follows the classic Kerwe format with three music evenings, a festival tent, and amusement rides. The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in early autumn. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
