Holthausen-Biene as a District of Lingen

Holthausen-Biene is a district of the city of Lingen (Ems), the largest city in the Emsland region. Like many Lingen districts, Holthausen-Biene has preserved its own village identity and is home to the Biene Marksmen's Association, an active traditional customs club. Lingen, as a city in southern Emsland, is characterized by a multitude of marksmen's associations in its various districts, which work together under the umbrella of the Vereinte Schützenbund (VSB).

The Vereinte Schützenbund (VSB) Lingen is an umbrella organization that unites the numerous marksmen's associations in the Lingen city area and its districts. The VSB coordinates joint activities such as shooting competitions, meetings of the king couples, and joint appearances at larger festivals. This umbrella structure is typical of marksmen's culture in cities with many districts and enables the coordinated cultivation of marksmen's traditions at the city level.

Anniversary Festival on May 23, 2026

The anniversary festival on May 23, 2026, from 12 PM to 6 PM, is an extended Schützenfest of the Biene association, possibly in connection with an anniversary or a special occasion. The assembly of marksmen, a festive parade, catering, and joint celebrations characterize the festival day. With fixed times from 12 PM to 6 PM, it is a compact day festival that offers visitors an undisturbed afternoon and fits well into the Lingen festival calendar.

Embedded in Lingen's Marksmen's Culture

Lingen, with its size and the multitude of districts, is one of the cities in Emsland with the most Schützenfeste. From the anniversary festival in Holthausen-Biene to the anniversary festival of the Reuschberge Marksmen's Association in June, there is a diverse festival culture, also complemented by the Emslandhallen (Oktoberfest, Tattoo Convention).
