14 wineries and 7 restaurants open their doors in the historic wine-growing region on the edge of the Black Forest slopes
The Baden-Baden Rebland is one of Germany's most beautiful and unusual wine landscapes. On the southwestern foothills of the Black Forest, where the hills descend to the Rhine plain, lie the four districts of Steinbach, Neuweier, Varnhalt, and Haueneberstein — all incorporated into Baden-Baden in 1972, each with its own village identity and centuries-old viticulture. The slopes are planted with Riesling, Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, and Müller-Thurgau; the region's most famous wine is the Mauerwein from the Schlossberg vineyard in Neuweier — one of the few sweet Spätlesen Rieslings in Southern Germany.
The 2026 edition takes place on Sunday, April 19, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The organizer is the Förderverein Rebland, an initiative of Rebland vintners and restaurateurs to promote regional wine culture and tourism. Sponsors 2026: Volksbank Pur, Ensinger Mineral Heilquelle, BonVita Group, Josef Schnell Bauunternehmung, and Kist Holzbau.
Specific participation in 2026:
The northernmost Rebland village, rich in tradition, with large wineries and a cooperative. Steinbach is particularly prominent with its Schlosswald vineyard and Riesling specialties.
Home of the Schlossberg vineyard, the famous Mauerwein vineyard. This is where the sweet Spätlesen Riesling, which has been maturing for centuries against the medieval wall, is rooted.
A smaller district with family-run wineries and a beautiful view over the Rhine plain.
East of the city area, with vineyards on the edge of the Black Forest — this is the western border of the Rebland.
April is the time in viticulture when the previous year's wines become ready for sale — the fresh Riesling, the first Pinot Noir, the Pinot Blancs with crisp acidity. "The wine after bottling" is a special drinking experience: young, intense, with the character of the vineyard and the vintage still very present. The Open Wine Cellar Day is the ideal time to experience this spring freshness directly from the vintner — often in unassuming courtyard cellars, where you can talk to the vintner himself and learn his perspective on the wine year.
The 2026 edition uses the classic late April date, when the spring vintages of the previous year are freshly ready for sale and the Rebland slopes are showing their first buds. Throughout the day — 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM — you can freely move between the 14 participating wineries and 7 restaurants in the four districts.
New for 2026: the Fruit and Wine Trail in the Rebland will be officially opened. A new themed hiking trail that runs along vines and fruit crops, making the connection between viticulture and fruit growing tangible — a historically important aspect of the Rebland, which is not only wine country but also fruit country (cherries, plums, quinces).
Shuttle Bus Service: from Baden-Baden train station via Sinzheim to the Rebland, and then between the participating wineries. Exact routes and departure times can be found in the program flyer and at foerderverein-rebland.de.
The complete list of the 14 wineries and 7 restaurants, as well as their special offers, will be published on foerderverein-rebland.de. Typically participating: Weingut Schloss Neuweier, Weingut Nägelsförst, Reblandweingüter from Steinbach and Varnhalt, and several family-run businesses.
Admission to the wineries: free. Wine tastings are paid for directly at the vintner — typically €2–4 per tasting, often with a credit towards bottle purchase. Bottle prices range from €8–25 (standard wines) or higher for specialties, depending on the vintner and vineyard. Restaurants à la carte. Shuttle bus with its own fare or included in a day ticket (details on foerderverein-rebland.de).
By train: ICE and regional connection to Baden-Baden — Shuttle bus from the station via Sinzheim directly to the Rebland (route information in the program flyer). By car: A5 exit Baden-Baden, then towards Steinbach/Neuweier/Varnhalt — parking available at the wineries.
Admission to the wine cellars: free — wine tastings are paid for directly at the vintner (typically €2–4 per tasting, often with a credit towards bottle purchase). Restaurants à la carte.
Do not come by car — you want to taste wine! The shuttle bus or train + shuttle is the right choice. For hikers: connect 2–3 wineries per day at a relaxed pace on foot, plan a break in a restaurant. Those who want to try the new Fruit and Wine Trail should ask for a map at the starting point.
Hotels in Baden-Baden, from Lichtentaler Allee to the Kurhaus, or family-run guesthouses directly in the Rebland villages. Those seeking an authentic wine experience can stay in a Rebland inn in Neuweier or Steinbach.
