Whit Monday in the Oldenburg Region

The Rieck Haus is one of Northern Germany's most renowned open-air museums – an originally preserved Vierländer farmhouse from the 16th/17th century with a thatched main building, mill, barn, and gardens. On the nationwide German Mill Day, traditionally held on Whit Monday, the museum opens with a special program.

Mill Tours and Crafts

The focus of the day is the Rieck Haus mill. It will be set in motion, visitors can watch it grind, and ask the millers questions. Parallel to this, traditional craft demonstrations will take place: blacksmithing, basket weaving, spinning, baking in the historic bakehouse, and beekeeping demonstrations.

Family Program

There are special hands-on activities for children: simple grinding experiments with hand mills, bread baking, and animal feeding. The atmosphere of the Vierländer Hof with its animals, orchards, and historic living quarters invites visitors to linger.

Curslack, Bergedorf District

Curslack is located in the Vier- und Marschlande, the rural south of Hamburg's Bergedorf district. This region, with its thatched-roof farmhouses and fruit-growing areas, forms a unique contrast to Hamburg's urban cityscape. The Rieck Haus is part of the Bergedorf museum landscape.
