Three days of wine, live music, and garden dreams in Germany's oldest nurseries – in Berlin's Baumschulenweg district
The Späth'schen Baumschulen were founded in 1720, making them the oldest nursery in Germany. Over ten generations of the family have shaped the company; today, it operates a plant mail-order service, a retail market, and an event space that is part of the garden and family culture of Berlin's southeast. The historic trial garden – originally laid out by Franz Späth – is one of Berlin's most culturally significant garden sites.
The Weinmarkt im Späth'en Weingarten is one of Berlin's most unusual wine festivals – not in the city center, but in the middle of a 300-year-old garden. Several family-run wineries from different German growing regions are present, pouring wine, offering advice, and selling their wines directly. The selection of participating wineries is curated: Späth chooses businesses that practice nature-oriented wine production and are family-run.
The event runs for three days: Friday from 3 PM to 10 PM as the opening evening, Saturday from 1 PM to 10 PM as the main day, and Sunday from 1 PM to 6 PM for a relaxed conclusion. Live music accompanies the stalls at different times of the day. The Späth'sche Gasthaus and the beer garden are open throughout, and the farm shop offers organic cheese, organic sausage, and seasonal products. The trial garden and the dahlia and rose exhibition are also accessible during the wine market.
Späth is located in the Baumschulenweg district (Treptow-Köpenick borough), southeast of Berlin's city center. The neighborhood owes its name to the Späth nurseries, which have been located here for centuries. Visitors to the wine market often combine it with a walk in the adjacent Treptower Park or along the Plänterwald forest.
The 2026 edition of the Weinmarkt im Späth'en Weingarten follows the established three-day format. Friday afternoon marks the opening evening with the first pouring family wineries, Saturday is the full family day with the entire spectrum of stalls, and Sunday provides a relaxed conclusion with sales for your own cellar.
In terms of content, Späth curates the participating family wineries according to clear criteria: German family businesses, nature-oriented wine production, and high-quality assortments. The stalls are spread across the Späth grounds with its historic trial garden, and live music accompanies the events on a small stage. The Späth'sche Gasthaus, beer garden, and farm shop complement the culinary offerings.
Exact stall list and music program will be published by the organizer Späth at spaethsche-baumschulen.de.
