Where the festival is located
Späth's Nurseries are Germany's oldest nursery – founded in 1720, at the current location in Baumschulenweg in Berlin's southeast since the 19th century. On around 20 hectares, the family business grows trees, shrubs, and perennials, operates a restaurant, a sales area, a botanical ornamental garden, and an unusually well-stocked herb garden. The premises are a worthwhile excursion destination even outside of market weeks.
What the market shows
More than 40 exhibitors, all from the ceramic craft: small studios from the Berlin surroundings, established manufacturers from Saxony and the Westerwald, female artists from Bavaria and Schleswig-Holstein. What can be seen: floor vases, garden ceramics, sculptures, hand-formed tiles, tableware, ceramic jewelry, design pieces. Demonstrations of throwing on the potter's wheel are shown, often with the opportunity to try it yourself. A special touch: the performances by the artist Theo Theodor, who walks through the market in the role of company founder Christoph Späth.
