From Friday, December 5, 2026, to Sunday, December 21, 2026, the Weinheim Christmas Market invites visitors for three Advent weekends to the historic market square of the town on the Bergstraße. Opening on Friday, Dec. 5, at 5 p.m. by Mayor Andreas Buske with an ensemble from the Weinheim City Band on saxophone. Around 10 stalls with arts and crafts, Christmas decorations, and regional specialties, mulled wine, a children's carousel, and a visit from Santa Claus on Advent Sundays around 5 p.m. Organized by the IG Marktplatz in cooperation with the city.

The 2026 Weinheim Christmas Market spans three Advent weekends from Friday, December 5, to Sunday, December 21. Official opening on Dec. 5 at 5 p.m. by Mayor Andreas Buske with a saxophone ensemble from the City Band. For three weeks, stalls with arts and crafts, mulled wine, bratwurst, and crêpes on the market square; Santa Claus visits every Advent Sunday at 5 p.m.; children's carousel throughout.

Three Weekends, a Proven Schedule

For years, the Weinheim Christmas Market has followed a stable weekly schedule covering the entire Advent period:

Lighting Switch-On — November 28, 2026, 6 p.m.

One week before the market opens, the market square Christmas lighting with the luminous star motif on the tree branches will be officially switched on. The lighting extends from the main street to the castle entrance.

1st Advent Weekend — December 5–7, 2026

By train: S-Bahn S6 from Mannheim or Heidelberg to Weinheim Hbf, then a 5-minute walk via the Bergstraße to the Marktplatz. By car: A5 exit Weinheim, follow signs for Innenstadt (city center). Parking available in the Hauptstraße and Marktplatz parking garages.

Cozy Market in the Center of Bergstraße

The Weinheim Christmas Market is explicitly not a mega-market — but a cozy, club-supported market with a clear focus on the historic market square. Organized by the IG Marktplatz in cooperation with the City of Weinheim (AGS 08226, Rhein-Neckar district). The scale of around 10 stalls may seem small compared to Mannheim or Heidelberg — that's the concept. The goal is atmosphere, not mass.

Opening with Saxophone Ensemble

Kick-off on Friday, December 5, 2026, at 5 p.m. Mayor Andreas Buske will give the official opening speech, accompanied by a saxophone ensemble from the Weinheim City Band playing Advent pieces. Even earlier, on November 28, 2026, at 6 p.m., the market square lighting with star light motifs will be officially switched on — a glow of lights extending to the main street.

Stalls and Assortment

Around 10 stalls will present handmade arts and crafts and Christmas decorations — wood carvings, felt, knitwear, beekeeper products, and Christmas tree ornaments. Alongside food stalls with classic Advent specialties:

Mulled wine and children's punch
Bratwurst and potato pancakes
Crêpes and candied almonds
Chestnuts and stick bread

Family Program and Santa Claus

For the little visitors: a children's carousel on the market square and the visit from Santa Claus every Advent Sunday around 5 p.m. With bags full of gifts, he talks to the children and asks classic questions — a reliable date for many Weinheim families.

Focus on the Market Square

Following feedback from residents, the market has focused exclusively on the historic market square for several years, excluding the Rote Turmstraße. Another important aspect: Christmas markets are also held in the districts (Sulzbach, Hohensachsen, Lützelsachsen), which visitors can attend as a supplement.
