Three days of wine festival in the historic old town of Lauda on the third weekend of June
The Weinfest Lauda — also known as Weinfest Alt-Lauda — is one of the most traditional wine festivals in the Main-Tauber district. The festival takes place annually on the third weekend of June in the historic old town of Lauda — from Friday, June 19th, to Sunday, June 21st, 2026. The organizers are the City of Lauda-Königshofen together with local vintners and clubs.
At various wine stands, in booths and wine cellars of the Lauda-Königshofen vintners, a wide selection of Tauber wines will be served:
In addition, culinary specialties from the Roter clubs and innkeepers: grilled bratwurst, schnitzel, Maultaschen, onion cake, tarte flambée, fries, homemade cakes.
Throughout the three festival days, a diverse stage program runs — regional cover bands, brass music (especially on Sunday morning for the Frühschoppen), dance groups, and cultural performances by the clubs. The historic old town setting with half-timbered houses, the hospital, and the parish church of St. Jakobus lends the festival its special charm — a mixture of folk festival and cultural encounter.
The wine festival is also designed for families: children's carousels, bouncy castles, children's flea markets, and hands-on activity stations cater to the young visitors. This makes the wine festival a family day — parents can sample the Tauber wines, and children can experience a typical southern German summer festival.
Lauda-Königshofen (Main-Tauber district, district 08128, around 14,000 inhabitants) was formed in 1975 from the merger of the two districts of Lauda and Königshofen. The town is located in the southern Taubertal valley on the Romantic Road. Lauda itself is the historic core with a beautiful old town, protected half-timbered buildings, and a long wine-growing tradition. From Lauda station — a regional railway hub — you can reach the old town in a few minutes on foot.
The organizers offer a bus shuttle service from the surrounding communities — an explicit recommendation from the city to leave the car at home and enjoy the wine festival "without regret." Specific shuttle routes will be published on the city's website.
From June 19th to 21st, 2026, Lauda invites you to the traditional wine festival in its historic old town. At wine stands, booths, and wine cellars, Tauber wines will be served by the glass — Müller-Thurgau, Silvaner, Riesling, Burgundy varieties, and the regional rarity Tauberschwarz. Food will be provided by local caterers with Swabian-Franconian specialties.
Live music (cover bands, brass music, Frühschoppen on Sunday morning), dance groups, and cultural performances complement the gastronomic offerings. Children's carousels, bouncy castles, and a children's flea market make the festival family-friendly.
Free admission. Wines by the glass/in booths, food at stands at usual festival prices.
Train: Lauda station — important hub (Würzburg–Stuttgart and Heilbronn lines). 5 min. walk to the old town.
