Four days of Rheinhessen on the Baltic coast — winemakers, live music, and historic old town scenery
The concept of the Weinfest Heiligenhafen has remained unchanged for over three decades: winemakers from Rheinhessen — Germany's largest and most diverse wine-growing region — come to the historic market square of the Baltic seaside town and serve their wines at table stands. For four days, the market square transforms into a small wine fair with tastings, advice, direct sales, and live music.
With its 30th edition in 2026, the Weinfest Heiligenhafen reaches a remarkable milestone. Organizer Heiligenhafen Touristik has continuously nurtured and expanded the event since 1996 — proof that the concept (Rheinhessen + Baltic seaside town) is sustainable in the long term.
Accompanying the wine service, a band plays on the market square every evening. Regular guest is the party band MAMALOO, which has become a fixture of the Heiligenhafen wine festival. The atmosphere is familial — many visitors return year after year, with their regular glasses and their favorite winemakers.
Heiligenhafen is located on the eastern edge of the Wagrien peninsula, in the district of Ostholstein (Schleswig-Holstein), opposite the island of Fehmarn. With around 9,200 inhabitants, the town is a compact Baltic seaside resort with a historic town center, a marina, a harbor promenade, and the famous Seebrücke Heiligenhafen (Germany's longest active pier at 435 m). The market square, with its medieval town church and half-timbered houses, forms the historic heart of the town — the ideal setting for a wine festival with a North German patina.
With the anniversary edition in 2026, the Weinfest Heiligenhafen celebrates its 30th anniversary. Organizer Heiligenhafen Touristik has chosen the proven lineup of previous years for the anniversary: Rheinhessen winemakers at the historic market square, culinary accompaniments, and live music on all four evenings.
The focus is on the winemakers from Rheinhessen, who serve and sell their wines directly at their stands. The range includes classic Rheinhessen varieties: Riesling, Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Grauburgunder, Spätburgunder, Dornfelder. Many winemakers have been coming for years — the relationship between the regular Heiligenhafen audience and the Rheinhessen winemakers has grown.
Live music accompanies the wine festival on all four evenings from 5:00 PM onwards. The party band MAMALOO, which has become a fixture of the Heiligenhafen wine festival, will be performing, among others. The exact band program will be communicated via the Heiligenhafen Touristik website.
