WeinBerlin - The Established Berlin Wine Fair
The WeinBerlin fair, organized by weberMESSE GmbH, has been one of the firmly established industry wine fairs in Germany for years - alongside ProWein in Düsseldorf and Forum Vini in Munich. In Berlin, it takes place twice a year: in Spring to open the asparagus season (April), and in Autumn around the new vintages (October). The venue for the Spring 2026 edition is the Colosseum Berlin on Schönhauser Allee in Prenzlauer Berg - a former cinema built in 1924, which after various uses now serves as a spacious venue for fairs and events.
Concept and Asparagus Season Focus
WeinBerlin Spring differs from other German wine fairs through its clear focus on the asparagus season: A significant proportion of the wines presented are white Burgundies (Weißburgunder, Grauburgunder, Chardonnay) - the classic pairings for German asparagus, which starts its season in April around the time of the fair. In addition, the winemakers also present the new vintages of their Rieslings, Silvaners, reds, and sparkling wines. The format is an industry fair open to the public: on the weekend, the fair opens for interested end consumers; on the preceding weekend and during the week, sommeliers, restaurateurs, wine merchants, and the trade press dominate.
Exhibitors and Wine Regions
The approximately 90 exhibitors present over 900 wines in 1,600 m² of exhibition space. Focus areas:
- German Wine Regions: Mosel, Saar, Nahe, Franken, Rheinhessen, Pfalz, Baden, Württemberg
- International Exhibitors: Italy (Piedmont, Tuscany, Veneto), Spain (Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Priorat), France (Burgundy, Loire, Champagne, Languedoc), Austria (Wachau, Lower Austria, Styria)
- Overseas Producers: Australia, South Africa, Chile
Many winemakers travel personally, allowing for tasting and direct conversation with the producer - added value that draws Berlin wine lovers to the Colosseum every year.
Colosseum Berlin and Prenzlauer Berg
The Colosseum Berlin at Schönhauser Allee 123 is one of the most distinctive event buildings in the Pankow district / Prenzlauer Berg neighborhood. Built in 1924 as a cinema, later a movie theater, and from 1957 the DEFA's "Filmtheater Colosseum". After reunification, it was used for various purposes and is now a professionally managed event venue. The transport links are excellent: U2 and Tram M1, M12 right outside the door, S-Bahn ring Schönhauser Allee within a five-minute walk. Those living in Prenzlauer Berg or wanting to spend the day in the district's cafes and galleries can easily incorporate WeinBerlin into their plans.
