About Wein am Main

"Wein am Main" is the joint wine festival of the 16 Randersacker wineries directly on the Main riverbank near the lock. In June — around the summer solstice — the vintners present their wines in a relaxed festival atmosphere by the river, complemented by live handmade music and street food. Free admission. The festival weekend is one of the most atmospheric wine festivals in the Main valley between Würzburg and Marktheidenfeld.

Wine, Main, Longest Days

Randersacker is one of Franconia's best-known wine-growing communities. 16 wineries share the steep slopes on the Main south of Würzburg — from traditional family wineries to modern organic operations. With "Wein am Main", the vintners have agreed on a joint wine festival that presents the entire wine-growing community's range over a weekend. The venue is chosen programmatically: the Main riverbank near the lock, right by the water, with the vineyards behind.

What awaits you

  • Wines from all 16 Randersacker wineries — Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Schwarzriesling, plus sparkling wine and sweet specialties
  • "Schoppen" (glass) sales with deposit glass, payment by tokens
  • Live music ("handmade music") — Acoustic, Folk, Jazz
  • Street food from regional providers: Franconian cuisine, burgers, vegetarian options, sweets
  • Summer solstice festival atmosphere with a view of the Main

Atmosphere and Format

Unlike traditional folk festivals, "Wein am Main" is an open, flowing event format — guests stroll along the Main riverbank from stand to stand, taste wines at the vintners', chat, listen to music. The longest days of the year make the summer evenings long and mild — typical for the Main valley in mid-June. The festival positions itself as a high-quality, relaxed alternative to the fast-paced wine festival format.

Surroundings: Randersacker

Randersacker (approx. 3,500 inhabitants) is located directly on the Main, 6 km south of Würzburg. Those arriving for a festival weekend can easily combine the wine festival with a walk on the Main Cycle Path, a boat trip from Würzburg, or a vineyard hike in the steep slopes above the town.

Wein am Main — edition 2026

"Wein am Main" Randersacker 2026 will take place from June 19 to 21 on the Main riverbank near the lock. Friday and Saturday from 5:00 PM each day, Sunday from 2:00 PM. All 16 Randersacker wineries present their wines; live music ("handmade music") and street food complement the program. Free admission, summer solstice festival atmosphere.

The 2026 edition is officially announced by Weingut Trockene Schmitts and Weingut Schenk on their respective websites as the event weekend from June 19–21, 2026. The concept remains the same: festival grounds directly on the Main with a view of the lock, rows of stands for the 16 wineries, live music stage(s), and street food stalls.

The date is deliberately set around the summer solstice — the longest days of the year provide the fitting setting for an open-air wine festival. In case of bad weather, celebrations may take place under pavilions and tents; the festival concept remains open.
