One evening, 20 concerts, the entire city center — the tenth edition of the music night classic
Since its first edition in 2017, the Elmshorn Music Night has become one of the city's most important summer cultural events. The concept is simple and effective: on a Friday evening in May, around 20 bands and acts perform simultaneously throughout the city center — in pubs, cafés, St. Nikolai Church, the theater, galleries, and on open-air stages. With a single admission wristband, the audience has access to all venues — anyone interested can hop from bar to bar throughout the evening and listen to different concerts.
In 2026, the Music Night celebrates its 10th edition — a jubilee that Stadtmarketing is promoting as a special event. The 9th edition in May 2025 attracted around 1,500 visitors and is considered an "absolute highlight in the city's summer program." Similar visitor numbers are expected for 2026 — possibly more, given the jubilee edition.
The 2026 Music Night follows a classic three-part structure:
The bands usually cover a wide spectrum: German pop and indie, jazz combos, folk, acoustic sets, classical soloists (opening concert in the church), rock, and cover bands in the pubs. This mix defines the character of the Music Night — every concertgoer can find their favorite spot.
Since the venues are spread throughout the city center, Stadtmarketing organizes a shuttle service between the more distant locations. Those who prefer to stay within walking distance will find all main stages within a 10-minute walk around the Alter Markt.
Elmshorn is a district town with around 50,000 inhabitants in the Pinneberg district of the state of Schleswig-Holstein. In recent years, Stadtmarketing has transformed the city center into a vibrant event city — a Christmas market in winter, a picnic open-air cinema in summer, and the Music Night in May. The Music Night is the biggest crowd-puller in spring.
The jubilee edition (10th edition) is confirmed on the official website of Stadtmarketing Elmshorn. The format follows the proven three-part structure with an opening in the church, a parallel main phase, and a closing concert at the Alter Markt.
Specific bands and venues will be published in the weeks leading up to the event. Applications for venues and acts are processed via the corresponding PDF forms from Stadtmarketing.
