Two days of Advent market in Bahnhof- and Falltorstraße with arts and crafts, bratwurst, and mulled wine
Mössingen is a town on the southern edge of the Swabian Jura, in the district of Tübingen — around 20,000 inhabitants, with direct connections to the Hohenzollernbahn railway and to Hechingen-Tübingen. The annual Christmas market takes place on the first Advent weekend and cleverly utilizes the center between Bahnhofstraße and Falltorstraße: two illuminated streets where stands, stages, and food areas form a continuous festival mile without the need to walk between distant locations.
The market follows the tradition of Tübingen's Christmas markets and emphasizes authenticity: handmade candles, wooden figures, beeswax sculptures, knitted hats and scarves, ceramics from the Swabian Jura, and small jewelry studios. In addition, there are regional foods — honey from Albimkern, jam from Sülchgau, wine from Steinbachtal — and occasionally stands with upcycled products, a growing trend in the region.
Culinary offerings at the Mössingen Christmas market remain classically Swabian: pork and beef bratwurst, Maultaschen (dumplings) at a stand, Linsen mit Spätzle (lentils with egg noodles), crêpes, roasted almonds, fried pastries. Drinks include mulled wine (red and white), apple punch, spiked cocoa, and for children, non-alcoholic punch. The City of Mössingen has emphasized the beauty of the stands in previous years: a jury judges the presentation, and the winner receives a voucher and an official Mössingen bag.
The accompanying program typically includes concerts by Mössingen school and church choirs, a magic show in the foyer of the Mössingen Health Center, performances by music associations, and craft activities for children. The market is completely accessible, with accessible restrooms available at the Health Center and the town square. Disabled parking spaces are located on Grasshoppersstraße — a gesture to the town's older population.
The Mössingen Christmas Market 2026 will open its stalls on Friday, December 4th (5:00 PM–9:00 PM) and Saturday, December 5th (11:00 AM–9:00 PM) along Bahnhofstraße and Falltorstraße in the center of Mössingen. The event is organized by the City of Mössingen in cooperation with the local business association and Mössingen clubs.
Over 50 stands are expected, offering handmade arts and crafts, Advent decorations, regional food products, and classic Swabian dishes — bratwurst, Maultaschen, Linsen mit Spätzle, crêpes — as well as mulled wine, apple punch, and non-alcoholic punch. Accompanying program: performances by Mössingen school and church choirs, a magic show in the foyer of the Health Center, and craft activities for children.
