First city festival in the new city center — Marktplatz, Bahnhofstraße, Breitestraße
The Mössingen City Festival 2026 marks an important change: Instead of taking place on the school grounds at Farrenberg as before, the festival will now be held centrally in the city center — Marktplatz, Stadtplatz, Bahnhofstraße, and Breitestraße will be used. The new concept aims to revitalize the city center and make the city festival more visible. The Mössingen clubs remain the main organizers of the festival, together with the city.
The musical highlight of the weekend is the performance by RockTracht on Saturday evening. The party band — from the Mössingen-Stuttgart scene — combines rock, pop, disco classics, and beer tent evergreens into a mood-boosting mix that is ideal for city festivals and tents. The stage will be set up centrally, with the audience gathering in the Marktplatz and surrounding streets. Other program points on Saturday: Acoustic acts in the late afternoon, local music clubs, dance groups.
Sunday clearly focuses on a family program: Morning pint with brass music from the Mössingen music clubs, children's activities along Bahnhofstraße, bouncy castles, toy stalls, face painting. The city is using the festival to present the new city center configuration — many shops are participating with window displays, small sales promotions, and special offers on this Sunday.
Mössingen is a town of just under 21,000 inhabitants in the Tübingen district, at the foot of the Swabian Jura. The town is known for the Mössingen flower meadows (butterfly paradise), the Pausa area (former textile factory, now cultural center), and the history of the "Mössingen General Strike" in 1933. Mössingen is directly accessible by train from Tübingen (Tübingen–Hechingen line).
The 2026 City Festival is a transitional year: For the first time, the festival will no longer take place on the school grounds but centrally in the new city center. The city is using the format to experience Marktplatz, Stadtplatz, Bahnhofstraße, and Breitestraße as a contiguous festival mile.
The highlight on Saturday evening is the performance by RockTracht. Sunday focuses on a family program with morning pint, children's activities, and interactive stations.
