Mannheim has established a unique format with the "Special Christmas Market on Kapuzinerplanken." From Monday, November 23rd to Thursday, December 24th, 2026, the Kapuzinerplanken in squares O5 and O6 will transform into a carefully curated market with approximately 30 white tents under a starry sky light design. The organizer is VTM Mannheim, which coordinates several markets in the city center.

Weekly Changing Exhibitors

A unique selling point: The exhibitors change weekly. Instead of a static inventory, the market attracts new vendors on a weekly basis — craftspeople, manufacturers, food trucks, designers with unique assortments. This makes every visit different: Those who visit the market multiple times during the Advent season will see new art and culinary offerings each time. This curated, dynamic setup distinguishes the market from traditional Christmas markets with a fixed exhibitor base.

Atmosphere and Program

The white tents under a starry sky light design create a special atmosphere — unlike the typical rustic wooden huts of classic Christmas markets, the Kapuzinerplanken appears festive, clean, and modern. Mulled wine, punch, bratwurst, and Mediterranean specialties at the gastronomy stands complement the offerings. The main Mannheim Christmas Market at the Water Tower thrives on tradition; this special market thrives on its curatorial concept — both are integral parts of Mannheim's Advent landscape.

Following the Christmas market, the New Year's Eve market will take place at the same location from December 27th to 31st, also with white tents — a consistent visual theme for the entire festive season.
