Germany's Anime Stronghold Since 1999
Founded in 1999, AnimagiC is now one of the most established anime and manga conventions in Europe. It takes place annually in Mannheim — most years at the Congress Center Rosengarten, located right in the city center by the Wasserturm. The convention brings together fans, publishers, artists, and cosplayers from across the German-speaking world, as well as guests from France, the Netherlands, and Poland.
2026 Motto: "100% MAGIC"
The motto for the 2026 edition promises a particularly imaginative staging with magical themes from anime and manga. It will shape the stage design, the opening ceremony, and individual program items (special cosplay shows, themed panels).
Japanese Guests of Honor and SACRA MUSIC FES.
The focus is on Japanese artists — mangaka, animation directors, musicians. The convention maintains close relationships with major Japanese publishers like Kodansha, Shueisha, and VAP, regularly bringing high-caliber guests to the stage. The highlight on Saturday evening: the SACRA MUSIC FES. × AnimagiC, a J-Rock and J-Pop concert in the Mozartsaal featuring artists from Sony's SACRA Music label. Additionally, there will be acts in the Musensaal.
Animotion Film Festival and Cosplay
The integrated Animotion Film Festival screens current anime films on the big screen — German premieres and revivals are included in the admission price. The Cosplay Competition on the main stage is the emotional heart of the convention — registration closes on March 31, 2026. Cosplay fan groups also perform with their own productions.
Artist Market, Bring & Buy, Exhibitors
Over 100 exhibitors — Japanese publishers, German manga publishers (Carlsen, Tokyopop, Egmont), anime distributors (KSM, Crunchyroll Germany), fan shops, streetwear brands — present their new releases on the floors of the Rosengarten. The Artist Market brings together independent mangaka and illustrators with their doujinshi (self-published works). The Bring & Buy area serves as a trading post for used manga, DVDs, and collectible figures.
Mannheim and the Rosengarten
The Congress Center Rosengarten (Rosengartenplatz 2) is one of the largest convention centers in Southern Germany, featuring the Mozartsaal (a concert hall for 2,000 people), the Musensaal, and exhibition halls — ideal for a convention of this scale. AnimagiC attracts around 20,000 visitors to the "Quadratestadt" (city of squares) every year — many stay in the surrounding hotels, and the convention is an economic factor for Mannheim.
