Festive Gala Evening of the City of Weiden in der Oberpfalz
For many years, the Weiden City Ball has been the social kick-off to the new year in the Upper Palatinate. Invited guests, representatives from politics, business, and associations, as well as all dance-loving citizens, meet in the Max Reger Hall for a gala night that combines tradition and festive atmosphere. With around 580 guests per event, the ball is one of the most important events in the calendar of the city of Weiden in der Oberpfalz.
The internationally sought-after dance orchestra » Titanium & Strings « takes the stage for the musical entertainment. Six musicians, a singer, and four string players from the Nuremberg Philharmonic present a broad repertoire: contemporary dance classics with strict dance rhythms, timeless hits, rock, and pop across the decades, as well as current party songs. Virtuoso solos and an exciting live show make the evening a concert experience as well as a classic ball event.
The independent city of Weiden in der Oberpfalz is located on the Naab-Wald and, with its baroque old town, the Old Town Hall on the market square, and the renowned Max Reger Hall, is considered the cultural center of the northern Upper Palatinate in the state of Bavaria. The event hall, named after the composer Max Reger, who was born in Weiden, has been the festive setting for balls, concerts, and gala events for decades.
The evening begins at 7 p.m. with a welcome address by the Lord Mayor and a welcome gift. The orchestra then opens the dance evening, which lasts well past midnight. A mix of elegant waltz classics, Latin rhythms, and pop hits ensures a varied dance floor. Between dances, guests enjoy culinary specialties and the festive ambiance of the hall.
Festive attire is requested: dark suits, long evening gowns, or cocktail dresses are the usual attire for a city ball. For many residents of Weiden, the evening is an occasion for special memories – local media report that marriage proposals have even been made here. The colorful backdrop of guests from politics, business, associations, and private individuals makes the City Ball a representative reflection of Weiden's city society.
