Advent Atmosphere in the Frankenwald

Wartenfels is a small district of the municipality of Presseck in the Kulmbach district, located high in the Frankenwald. The Wartenfelser Weihnachtsmarkt at the fire station is one of the most atmospheric village Christmas markets in the region and is firmly anchored in the local event calendar.

The Large Nativity Scene Exhibition

The heart of the market is the large nativity scene exhibition at and around the fire station. The nativity scenes are designed by Gustav Tempel – a loving tradition that has grown over the years, giving the market its special character and attracting visitors from all over the Frankenwald.

Christkind, Nikolaus, and Music Club

For children, visits from the Christkind and Nikolaus are the highlights. The market is musically accompanied by the Musikverein Wartenfels, which provides atmospheric Advent sounds. Coffee and cake are served in the fire station – an inviting meeting place for the village community and external guests.

Supported by Volunteer Work

The organizer is the Freiwillige Feuerwehr Wartenfels e.V., which organizes the market together with local clubs and associations. All clubs and associations from Wartenfels are cordially invited – a market that thrives entirely on village volunteerism.

Presseck in the Frankenwald

The municipality of Presseck is located in the northeasternmost corner of Upper Franconia, on the border of the Frankenwald Nature Park. The wooded low mountain range landscape makes the region a destination for nature lovers – especially in Advent, thanks to the small, original village Christmas markets like the one in Wartenfels.
