The marksmen's festival is the conclusion of an entire festival cycle. It is preceded by weeks of preliminary shooting, main shooting, and a club, company, and citizens' shooting. In these competitions, the best marksmen and women, as well as the new monarch, are determined.

The highlight is the ceremonial collection of the king, during which the new marksmen's monarch is welcomed in a festive procession, followed by the actual marksmen's festival. Music, a festive parade, and social gatherings characterize the festival day, making it an event for the entire town.

The 2026 festival season of the Royal Privileged Marksmen's Society 1854 Stadtsteinach extends over several weeks. The preliminary shooting will take place on July 27 and 28, the main shooting begins on August 10 and runs through August 10-12 and August 17-18.
On August 24, the club, company, and citizens' shooting will follow, and on August 29, the ceremonial collection of the king. The highlight and conclusion is the actual marksmen's festival on September 6. The organizer is the Kgl. Priv. Schützengesellschaft 1854 Stadtsteinach.
