Feuerwehrfest with Tradition
The Wartenfels Volunteer Fire Brigade hosts its big club festival every year in early summer in Presseck. Wartenfels is a district of the municipality of Presseck in the Kulmbach district in Upper Franconia, located in the Frankenwald. The FFW Wartenfels celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2024 – its roots go back to the 1870s.
Beach Party and Open Day
For years, the festival weekend has combined two formats: On Friday and Saturday evenings, the Beach Party with DJ and summer atmosphere takes place. On Sunday, the FFW Wartenfels opens its doors for the Open Day with insights into the fire station, demonstrations, a children's program, and Franconian food.
Frankenwald as a Backdrop
With its location between the Frankenwald and the Fichtelgebirge, the festival attracts guests from the surrounding villages, the Kulmbach district, and neighboring districts of Hof and Kronach. The festival booklet "150 Years FFW Wartenfels" documents the history of the brigade and the Wartenfels village community.
Club Life with Volksfest Character
As with many fire brigade festivals in Upper Franconia, community is the focus: Club members volunteer to provide catering, music, and entertainment. The festival grounds become the village meeting point and are also a destination for authentic Franconian festival culture for visitors from outside.
Feuerwehrfest Wartenfels — edition 2026
The festival weekend of the FFW Wartenfels extends in 2026 from June 5th to 7th. On Friday and Saturday from 9 PM, the festival grounds transform into a beach party with DJ and summer vibes until 2 AM.
On Sunday, June 7th, 2026, the fire brigade opens its doors from 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM for the Open Day with a program for families, demonstrations, and Franconian catering. The fire brigade celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2024.

Getting There
Presseck and the Wartenfels district are located in the Frankenwald north of Kulmbach. Arrive by car via the B173/B289 or through the Pressecker Tal. Public transport is limited – carpooling recommended.
Admission
Beach Party Friday and Saturday with a moderate entrance fee, Open Day free of charge. Food and drinks are offered on-site by the FFW.
Tips
Dress appropriately for the weather – the event takes place mostly outdoors. Summer shoes and beach outfits are welcome for the Beach Party.
