Sacred and secular concerts in the churches of the Müritz town
The Warener Musiktage are a staple of the cultural calendar in Waren (Müritz), the tourist centre on the northern shore of the Müritz lake in the Mecklenburg Lake District. For several days in June, choirs, brass ensembles, and soloists perform in the three main town churches – the late Gothic St.-Marien-Kirche, the St.-Georgen-Kirche, and the Hl.-Kreuz-Kirche. This creates a small festival that combines the sacral architecture of the Hanseatic town with vibrant concert life.
The centrepiece of the Musiktage is the Wandelkonzert (walking concert): the audience moves from church to church, experiencing a short, distinct programme at each venue – from the St. Marien brass choir and singer-songwriters to children's choirs. A second highlight is the Mitsing-Konzert (sing-along cantata), where a project choir performs cantatas and sacred works together with guest musicians and soloists; those who wish to sing along can register in advance and participate in the joint rehearsal.
The Warener Musiktage aim to be an accessible cultural offering: admission to the concerts is free, although donations are requested for some events. This allows the Musiktage to reach a broad audience – locals, spa guests, and holidaymakers travelling around the Müritz in the summer.
Nestled between the Müritz lake and the Müritz National Park, Waren (Müritz) is one of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's most charming small towns. The old town with its harbour, brick churches, and half-timbered houses provides a fitting setting for a music festival that requires no elaborate stage technology, instead relying on the acoustics of the church spaces and the dedication of local church musicians.
The Warener Musiktage 2026 will span four days from June 18th to 21st, filling the town churches of Waren (Müritz).

The Wandelkonzert usually starts in the early evening at St. Marien – allow ample time to travel between the three churches. Advance registration by email is required for the Mitsing-Konzert.
