Autumn in the City Center

As the leaves change color and the apple harvest begins, CityLebenstedt e.V. invites you to the HerbstMarkt Lebenstedt. From Friday, September 18 to Sunday, September 20, 2026, the pedestrian zone around Fischzug and Marktplatz will become a meeting point for families, gourmets, and DIY enthusiasts.

Farmers' Market and Producers

The character of the market is shaped by the regional producers: apple and pear farmers from the northern Harz foothills, beekeepers with fresh honey and mead, cheese dairies, sausage makers, bakers with rustic bread and crumb cake, cider presses, jam manufacturers, distilleries with grain spirits and liqueurs. Alongside them are artisans with ceramics, felt, textiles, and woodwork – fitting for the autumn and harvest festival season.

Sunday Shopping

The Sunday shopping on September 20 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. is one of the main attractions of the festival. Shops in the city center open their doors, present their autumn collections, and entice with special promotions. Many families combine a stroll with lunch at the market and a late coffee in the pedestrian zone's cafes.

Stage, Family, Gastronomy

A stage in the city center features live music: regional bands, cover bands, choirs, acoustic artists. For children, there are craft activities, a small carousel, face painting, and tasting stations. Food stalls offer bratwurst, burgers, potato pancakes, crêpes, tarte flambée, international specialties, Federweißer (newly fermented wine) and new wines, Federweißer cake, onion cake, and of course, apple cider. The HerbstMarkt is Salzgitter's most important bridge between summer festivals and the Advent season.
