Vatertag Hockete on Ascension Weekend — Brass Music at the Edge of the Schönbuch
On Thursday, May 14, 2026 — Ascension Day and Father's Day — the Musikverein Walddorfhäslach e.V. invites you to the traditional Vatertag Hockete. From 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., the festival grounds on the B464 at the edge of the Schönbuch become a meeting point for hikers, cyclists, riders, families, and club friends.
The day begins at 11 a.m. with the traditional morning pint: brass ensembles from Walddorfhäslach and friendly bands from the Reutlingen district will play hearty brass music all day long. Catering is available throughout the day:
For young and young-at-heart visitors, there is a special offering:
The heated festival tent ensures that the event remains cozy even in cool weather (typical for May in the Schönbuch) — an important prerequisite for families with small children.
The festival grounds are located on the B464 at the edge of the Schönbuch — perfectly integrated into the hiking and cycling network of the Schönbuch Nature Park. Many visitors hike or cycle to the festival tent on Father's Day from nearby Tübingen, Bebenhausen, Pfullingen, or the Walddorfhäslach farms. Riders from surrounding stables also use the festival as a popular stopover.
With around 5,500 inhabitants, Walddorfhäslach is located in the Reutlingen district, on the western edge of the Schönbuch. The municipality consists of the districts of Walddorf and Häslach and has retained its rural character between Tübingen and the Swabian Jura. The Schönbuch — one of the largest contiguous forest areas in Southern Germany — forms the natural backbone of the festival and its scenic calling card.
