Kärwa in Oberasbach's Altort
The Oberasbach Kirchweih in the Altort is the main church festival of the city of Oberasbach in the district of Fürth in Middle Franconia, in the Bavarian state of Bavaria. It will take place in 2026 from Friday, July 10th, to Monday, July 13th. The heart of the festival beats around St. Lorenz Church; stalls and rides line Bachstraße, and a festival tent is located at Spargelhof Peter.
Four Kärwa in One City
Oberasbach is known for its four church festivals: the Oberasbach Kärwa in the Altort, the Altenberg, the Unterasbach, and the Rehdorf Kirchweih. The Altort-Kärwa is the most traditional and largest, attracting visitors from the entire district of Fürth.
City and Kärwa Run
A regular highlight is the city and Kärwa run on Saturday morning, organized by the city's cultural office. The run combines athletic competition with the convivial atmosphere of the Kirchweih and is a popular program item for participants and spectators alike.
Tradition with Clear Rules
The organizer is the association Kärwaboum Oberasbach e.V. A special feature: Bringing alcoholic beverages of any kind to the Oberasbach Kirchweihen has been prohibited since a city ordinance in 2009 – a contribution to a family-friendly festival. Thus, the Kärwa remains a traditional, convivial village festival in the Franconian sense.
