Summer wine festival with open-air church service and live music by Flo Schulz & Friendz in the Bergzabern region
The Keschdebuschfest in Kapellen-Drusweiler is a local summer classic, celebrated on Sunday, June 7, 2026, in this twin village in Southern Palatinate. The day begins at 11 a.m. with an open-air church service, after which the local community serves wines from local vintners, Palatinate specialties, and live music by the band Flo Schulz & Friendz.
The name refers to the typical Palatinate sweet chestnuts ("Keschde") and the chestnut groves ("Bischel" or "Busch") that characterize the Bergzabern region. The day before, June 3, 2026, the "Meet Your Vintners" event will kick things off in the courtyards. Kapellen-Drusweiler is located in the heart of the Southern Wine Route between Bad Bergzabern and Klingenmünster, nestled among vineyards, almond trees, and chestnut forests.
The Keschdebuschfest begins at 11 a.m. with an ecumenical open-air church service. Pastors and volunteers from the Kapellen-Drusweiler church communities will lead the service with church music, texts, and a sermon on a summer theme. The atmosphere is familial and relaxed – many visitors come for the service and stay all day.
Following the service, local vintners will serve wines from Kapellen-Drusweiler and neighboring wineries. Riesling, white and Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Rosé, and sparkling wines will be available. The local community will offer Palatinate specialties: Saumagen (pork stomach), Bratwurst (grilled sausage), Leberknödel (liver dumplings), Flammkuchen (flatbread), Palatinate potato soup, and cakes.
In 2026, the band Flo Schulz & Friendz will provide the musical entertainment – a local Palatinate act mixing cover songs, original pieces, and acoustic versions. The music will accompany the entire afternoon and evening, making the Keschdebuschfest a typical Palatinate summer afternoon with sun, wine, and music.
As early as Wednesday, June 3, 2026, the village invites you to a kick-off event called "Meet Your Vintners." In the courtyards of participating wineries, visitors can meet the vintners personally, taste their wines, and discuss viticulture and winemaking. This event complements the Keschdebuschfest and offers a more intimate insight into the twin village's wine scene.
A familial summer event in the twin village of Southern Palatinate: church service, wine, Palatinate cuisine, live music.
