Waldfest Nindorf

In the Aukrug Nature Park

Nindorf is located in the Dithmarschen district in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, in the middle of the Aukrug Nature Park — one of the most scenically attractive regions of Middle Holstein with forests, meadows, and small villages. With just under 900 inhabitants, Nindorf is typical for the region. The Nindorf-Dahlen district is home to the Kyffhäuserplatz — the festival site, club anchor, and meeting point of village life.

Kyffhäuserbund and Landjugend

The Waldfest is supported by two traditional village clubs:

• The Kyffhäuserbund Nindorf — one of the oldest German club structures, originally stemming from veterans' affairs, today a patron of customs and community care
• The Landjugend Nindorf — the young adults who form the volunteer backbone of such village festivals

Both clubs share the organization — from setup on Tuesday to dismantling on Sunday afternoon.

Two Festival Evenings and a Day Program

The Waldfest takes place twice a year, in May and late summer. In spring 2026, the festival weekend from May 8th to 9th forms the central event:

• Tuesday, May 5th, 2026 — Setup of the tent and infrastructure
• Friday, May 8th, 2026 — Festival evening, opening from late afternoon
• Saturday, May 9th, 2026 — Main evening with music, catering, and joint celebration until late at night
• Sunday, May 10th, 2026 — Dismantling from midday

In the Forest, in the Village, in Tradition

What makes the Waldfest special is the mix of an open-air space and a festival tent — nestled between trees and fields. An event without mass audiences and without commercial pressure, but with the characteristic club life of northern Germany. Visitors from the city will experience a form of lived village sociability here that hardly exists in large cities anymore.
