Spring Begins in the Schleswig-Holstein Countryside

Hanerau-Hademarschen in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district, in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, is one of the characteristic Geest communities of northern Mittelholstein — not a tourist hotspot, but a vibrant village community with a strong club life. The Frühlingsfest is one of the central dates in the Hademarschen calendar: a festival supported by local businesses and clubs, marking the start of the season.

What Happens at the Frühlingsfest

Parallel events will take place throughout the day in the village centre:

• Sunday Opening for Shopping from 12 PM to 5 PM — local shops with seasonal offers
• Dog Olympics starting at 11 AM with various disciplines — entry fee 3 Euros for the benefit of the "Kleine Heimtierinsel" animal shelter
• Live Music by the band Nordstimmen from 1 PM on the market square
• Children's Activity Mile with hands-on activities, bouncy castles, and various stalls
• Demonstration by the Hademarschen Fire Brigade with rescue techniques and hydraulic tools

The Dog Olympics

A special feature of Hademarschen is the Dog Olympics: dog handlers and their dogs compete against each other in various disciplines — obedience, agility, tricks. The competition is organized by the Oersdorf Dog School. The proceeds from the entry fee go to the regional animal welfare organization "Kleine Heimtierinsel". Organizers and Tradition

The Association for Trade, Crafts, and Industry Hanerau-Hademarschen e.V. organizes the festival in cooperation with local clubs and the municipality. The Frühlingsfest also serves to increase the visibility of local businesses against the backdrop of increasing online retail — the Sunday opening for shopping is part of the association's strategy to strengthen the village centre.
