Volksfest in the Lusatian Mountains
Neukirch/Lausitz is located in the Bautzen district at the foot of the Lusatian Mountains — a small, very active community with a strong tradition of folk festivals. After a break in 2025 (organizational reasons), the Volksfest returns in 2026 and will celebrate its edition on the first weekend of July.
Festival Grounds and Rides
The venue is the central festival grounds at Hauptstraße 62. Showmen will set up various attractions over the weekend — highlights include the chain carousel "Alpenflug", which swings about 30 meters above the festival grounds, and a large roller coaster for all ages. In addition, there will be carousels, shooting galleries, snack stands, and of course, the obligatory beer tent.
Three Days of Program with Laser Show
Friday evening opens with a beer tasting starting at 7 PM, followed by The BeeFees — an exciting party cover band playing rock 'n' roll classics — starting at 9 PM. Saturday will focus on the "Radio Lausitz Partynacht" with DJ Mirco and DJ Olli, crowned around 11 PM by a spectacular laser show with colorful light effects. Sunday is Family Day with a craft station, face painting, balloon modeling, archery, a blessing of fire trucks, and a cake bazaar in the festival barn. The Burkauer Blasmusikanten will play from 1 PM, providing the classic Volksfest sound.
Free Community Festival
Remarkable: Admission is free on all three days. Rides are paid per ride, and food and drinks are available on-site. The Neukirch/Lausitz municipal administration organizes the festival under the direction of Claudia Hoffmann (Tel. +49 35951 25123).
Volksfest Neukirch — edition 2026
After a break in 2025, the Volksfest is back in 2026. The Neukirch/Lausitz municipal administration has designed the program so that each day has its own highlights — appealing equally to families and dance fans.
The showmen will set up the "Alpenflug" chain carousel (approx. 30 meters high) and a large roller coaster. The stage program, beer tent, and family offerings complete the classic Volksfest format.

Friday, July 3, 2026
- 5:00 PM — Funfair opens, all rides start operating
- 7:00 PM — Beer tasting with musical accompaniment in the beer tent
- 9:00 PM — The BeeFees — Party cover band with rock 'n' roll classics on the main stage
Saturday, July 4, 2026
- 2:00 PM — Funfair opens, first showmen start
- 9:00 PM — Radio Lausitz Party Night with DJ Mirco and DJ Olli on the main stage
- Approx. 11:00 PM — Spectacular laser show with colorful light effects over the festival grounds
Sunday, July 5, 2026
- 12:00 PM–6:00 PM — Family Day with funfair attractions and extensive family program
- 1:00 PM — Burkauer Blasmusikanten on stage, classic "Frühschoppen" (morning pint)

- Archery, blessing of fire trucks

Getting There
Neukirch/Lausitz is located on the B98 between Bischofswerda and Görlitz. About 25 km from Bautzen, about 15 km from Bischofswerda. Parking is available on Hauptstraße and on the outskirts of town.
