Schützenverein Moers-Vinn 1903 — Queen Nele I.'s Inauguration, Parade, and Dance Evening
Moers is located on the Lower Rhine, and with around 103,000 inhabitants, it is the largest city in the Wesel district. Characterized by its former mining industry, the medieval Moers Castle, the Castle Park, and a distinct district culture. The district of Vinn is in the southeast of the city — village-like and suburban, with its own marksmen's club, its own sense of identity, and a community of associations that sustains district life.
The Schützenverein Moers-Vinn 1903 e.V. is one of the most traditional clubs in southern Moers — founded in 1903, it has survived the turbulent history of the 20th century and is firmly anchored in the Vinn community today. Club headquarters: the Schützenhaus at Vinner Str. 63, which also serves as the festival grounds and meeting place. The annual Schützenfest on the Pentecost weekend or in late May is the highlight of the club's year.
A special feature of the club: The royal title for 2025/2026 is held by a Schützenkönigin (Queen of Marksmen), Nele I., and her court — a reflection of modern marksmen's culture, where women have long been able to participate equally in the royal shooting competition. Queen Nele I. will be officially welcomed during the assembly on Saturday afternoon and will be the focus of the festive procession.
3:30 PM: Assembly of marksmen, the BSW Hohenbudberg music corps, and guests at the Schützenhaus, Vinner Str. 63. Retrieval of the club flag, welcome of the Queen and her court.
Afterwards: Festive procession through the residential streets of Vinn — Leibnitzstraße, Kantstraße, Humboldtstraße — to the festival grounds. A colorful parade of marksmen in uniform, music corps, court carriages, and friendly clubs.
At the Schützenhaus: Official welcome by Club Chairman Manfred Bunde and Mayor Julia Zupancic. Followed by a concert by the Hohenbudberg music corps.
From approx. 8:00 PM: Dance evening with the live band “L!GhT UnTaM3D” — Rock, Pop, and dance classics until late into the night.
The Musikcorps BSW Hohenbudberg from neighboring Krefeld-Hohenbudberg has been a long-standing musical partner of the club. Brass band march music in the classic Lower Rhine style — from "Preußens Gloria" to folk songs and pop arrangements for marching formations.
Admission to all events is free. The festival has a classic district Schützenfest character: lots of social interaction, bratwurst, beer, family — not a large-scale event, but an intimate club celebration that brings together citizens from all over Vinn (and beyond).
Those visiting the festival should experience Moers along the way: Moers Castle with its Grafschaft Museum, the Schlosspark as a large English garden in the city center, the Old Town with its market square and historic buildings. The annual Moers Festival (Jazz/Improvisation Festival, Pentecost) has international appeal and usually takes place concurrently or shortly before the Vinner Schützenfest. An unusual but charming combination of two festival cultures on the Lower Rhine.
A one-day Schützenfest on the eve of the Pentecost weekend. Official welcome by club chairman Manfred Bunde and Mayor Julia Zupancic.
