Where Dragons and Vegetarians Shake Hands
The Vegan Fantasy Fair is one of the most unusual events in the Saarland's festival calendar — and that's precisely why it's so charming. Since 2023, an annually growing audience of fantasy fans, cosplayers, role-players, vegan foodies, and activists has gathered in the Schlosspark Geislautern in the Völklingen district. Across 10,000 sqm of event space, spread over five themed areas, the festival unites two worlds that rarely come together: medieval fantasy and environmental awareness.
Marketplace with Vegan Mead Tavern
In the market area, you'll find stalls selling household goods, natural cosmetics, fashion, costumes, accessories, role-playing props, games, literature, and fantasy merchandise. Vegan street food trucks cater to your culinary needs — from burgers to bowls — and vegan mead flows in the tavern. All food, drinks, and goods are consistently vegan, without exception.
Stage, Lectures, Pen-and-Paper
The program ranges from live music with folk, medieval, and gothic bands to theater performances, readings, and show acts, as well as lectures on veganism, animal rights, climate protection, and social justice. Pen-and-paper sessions run all day in the role-playing tent, with board and card games at the adjacent tables.
For Families
A dedicated children's area with outdoor activities, craft offerings, and age-appropriate program items makes the Vegan Fantasy Fair attractive for families too. Children under 12 and individuals with a severe disability pass have free admission.
Saarland Location Advantage
The choice of Völklingen is no coincidence: located in the Saarbrücken regional association, Schlosspark Geislautern is conveniently situated in the tri-border area of Germany–France–Luxembourg and attracts visitors from the entire greater region. Around 2,000 guests are expected per edition. With the solidarity ticket — funded by paying visitors — admission remains possible for everyone.
Vegan Fantasy Fair — edition 2026
The weekend of 2026 marks the fourth edition since its premiere in 2023 and also the established Saarland edition of the festival. Around 2,000 visitors are expected. Tickets are available in advance from Eventbrite or at the box office, with reduced prices for students and youths, and free admission for children under 12 and individuals with a disability pass.

Getting There
Schlosspark Geislautern is located in the Geislautern district of Völklingen, about 10 km west of Saarbrücken. By car via the A620 (Völklingen exit). By public transport from Saarbrücken main station via Saarbahn S1 to Völklingen, then bus line 122 or 124 towards Geislautern.
Parking
Parking spaces in the vicinity of the Schlosspark. Recommendation: Prefer bus or train, on busy days parking can be tight.
Tickets
Advance sales via veganfantasyfair.de and Eventbrite. Day tickets from approx. €6.51, reduced for students and youths aged 13–17. Weekend tickets available. Children under 12 and individuals with a severe disability pass are free. Solidarity ticket for those with financial limitations.
Opening Hours
Saturday 12 PM–10 PM, Sunday 12 PM–8 PM.
Camping
Not possible on the festival grounds — hotels and holiday apartments in Völklingen and Saarbrücken recommended.
