Four days of local culture and music festival by the Rieser Trachtenkapelle in Ostalbkreis
The Unterschneidheimer Festtage are the flagship event of the Rieser Trachtenkapelle Musikverein Unterschneidheim e.V. — and at the same time the largest summer festival in the municipality of Unterschneidheim. For four days, the festival grounds are transformed into a large marquee complex with an adjoining beer garden, where regional music clubs, befriended bands from the Ries and Albuch regions perform, and the community comes together.
The classic program of the Unterschneidheimer Festtage follows a well-established schedule: Friday evening tapping of the first keg and festival opening with the band, Saturday a grand festival banquet and guest performances, Sunday morning ecumenical festival service and 'Frühschoppen' (morning pint), Sunday afternoon family festival, Monday the 'Kehraus' (farewell party) with 'Frühschoppen' and lunch. The detailed program sequence will be published by the music club a few weeks before the festival.
Unterschneidheim is located in the Ostalbkreis district in the state of Baden-Württemberg, in the Rieser Becken region between the Swabian Jura and Franconian Jura. The Trachtenkapelle has been preserving the Rieser brass music and traditional costume heritage for generations: red vests, black hats, festival parades with flags and drum corps. At the Unterschneidheimer Festtage, you will experience this tradition live — on stage, in the festival tent, and during the Sunday parade through the municipality.
Catering is provided in the usual way by the music club itself: sausage salad, roast pork, 'Maultaschen' (Swabian ravioli), grilled bratwurst, plenty of wheat beer and non-alcoholic drinks on hot days. The beer garden under chestnut trees opens in good weather; the festival tent with beer benches offers space for several hundred guests. Admission is free — payment is made at the catering stands and token counters.
The festival days significantly finance the club activities of the Rieser Trachtenkapelle: instrument purchases, youth training, costume maintenance. By attending, you directly support brass music youth development in the Ostalbkreis — and at the same time, you can listen for four days to how professionally the South German club music scene can sound at this level.
The exact daily program will be published by the music club a few weeks before the festival. The proven schedule from previous years includes:
