Blasmusik-Open-Air on the Grünhof festival meadow
The BLASIUS-Festival in Fremdingen is not a mere brass band showcase, but a modern brass music open-air event. The organizer is the Musikverein 1871 Fremdingen e.V., a member of the Allgäu-Schwäbische Musikbund (ASM). Over three days, a small festival city with a stage, camping, club tents, and camp life emerges on the Grünhof festival meadow.
The musical spectrum ranges from classical brass music — polka, waltz, march — to bands like Django 3000, who blend brass tradition with folk and pop elements, or Monaco F, one of the stylistically defining Bavarian brass-pop ensembles. On Sunday mornings, the BLASIUS-Musikantenfrühschoppen rings out with the Allgäu-Schwäbische Musikanten, led by Herbert Hornig — a select ensemble of experienced musicians from various ASM clubs.
Fremdingen is located in the Donau-Ries district on the border between Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, and Middle Franconia, in the heart of the Nördlinger Ries — the meteorite crater that shapes the region geologically and scenically. The Grünhof festival meadow offers wide views, camping under trees, and the typical mix of club community and open festival character found at ASM events.
In 2026, the BLASIUS-Festival will take place for the sixth time. Within just a few years, it has become a firm fixture on the South German brass music scene. The concept of three days of programming, its own camping area, the ASM community choir, and the Frühschoppen attracts both music clubs and a young audience that prefers experiencing brass bands in a festival context rather than in a concert hall.
The Fremdingen Music Association offers special packages for club groups: Reserved tables for ten people on Sunday morning, catering voucher packages (€90 for €100 festival credit, i.e., 10% bonus), and group discounts for 25+ tickets with drink bonuses. Tickets are available via the festival homepage.
The sixth edition of the BLASIUS-Festival builds on the established tradition of previous years, bringing national brass stars to the Ries. Headliners include Django 3000, deeply rooted in the South German folk-brass scene, and the Bavarian brass-pop ensemble Monaco F.
The concept merges three worlds: traditional club brass music during the Sunday Frühschoppen, modern brass-pop festival on Saturday evening, and a relaxed camping atmosphere around the festival grounds. Camp life is also an integral part of the program — the Fremdingen Music Association offers opportunities for club trips and group registrations.
