About Heimatfest Heideck

The Heidecker Heimatfest is the annual highlight in the event calendar of the small Middle Franconian town of Heideck (Roth district). For four to five days, the town celebrates with a festival tent, beer tapping by the mayor, a parade on Sunday, traditional 'Fischerstechen' (fish spearing) on the Wäschweiher pond, and a musical fireworks display as the grand finale. The date is traditionally set for the third weekend of July and combines Franconian customs with a modern festival tent program.

Highlight of the Heideck Year

Heideck is a small town in the Middle Franconian district of Roth (Bavaria), but for one weekend in July, it bursts at the seams: The Heidecker Heimatfest has been the region's Volksfest for generations. The date is almost set in stone – always the third weekend of July.

The Traditional Schedule

The Heimatfest classically extends from Thursday to Monday and follows a proven dramatic structure:

  • Thursday — Wine-Up: Opening with a wine tent format as a gentle start
  • Friday — Official Opening: traditional drumming and beer tapping by the mayor in the festival tent
  • Saturday — Flea Market and Fischerstechen: historical 'Fischerstechen' on the Wäschweiher, where contestants try to push each other into the water with lances
  • Sunday — Parade: grand parade through the old town starting at 2:00 PM, arriving at the festival grounds; the Heideck Artists' Circle exhibition is held in the town hall
  • Monday — Family Day and Finale: reduced prices for amusement rides until 7:00 PM, swearing-in of the patron company, musical fireworks at the Wäschweiher as the grand finale

More Than Just a Volksfest

The Heimatfest is a source of identity for Heideck. Customs (Fischerstechen, parade, swearing-in ceremonies) meet a modern festival tent program with live bands, Franconian pub cuisine, and amusement rides for young and old. The musical fireworks at the Wäschweiher are the emotional highlight and one of the most beautiful moments in the Heideck festival calendar.

Heimatfest Heideck — edition 2026

The Heidecker Heimatfest 2026 will take place from Saturday, July 18 to Tuesday, July 21, 2026 – as always on the third weekend of July. The festival opens on Thursday with the traditional Wine-Up at 7:00 PM. The grand parade marches through the old town on Sunday at 2:00 PM. The musical fireworks at the Wäschweiher mark the grand finale.

The 2026 edition follows the festival sequence proven over decades in Heideck: from the Thursday Wine-Up, through the beer tapping, Fischerstechen, and parade, to the grand finale with musical fireworks at the Wäschweiher.

In 2026, a diverse festival tent program, amusement rides around the festival grounds, and the swearing-in of the patron company on Family Day are expected. The town of Heideck will publish the complete daily program, including music bands, shortly before the event on the official website and in the local gazette.
