Harbour Festival on Lake Constance
The Uhldingen Harbour Festival is one of the traditional Lake Constance harbour festivals and will take place from Friday, July 24th, to Sunday, July 26th, 2026, at the harbour and promenade of Unteruhldingen. Unteruhldingen is a district of the Lake Constance municipality Uhldingen-Mühlhofen — known primarily for the famous stilt houses, an archaeological open-air museum with reconstructed Stone Age settlements.
Friday — After-Work Get-Together
The kick-off on Friday, July 24th, 2026, from 6:00 PM, is a 'convivial after-work get-together' — the Swabian-Lake Constance form of an after-work gathering: sitting together, chatting, having a Maß (litre of beer), eating something small. Free admission on Friday evening. A relaxed opening far from the mega folk festival atmosphere.
Saturday — Barrel Rolling, Scrap Boat Race, and Fireworks
The main festival day is Saturday, July 25th, 2026. Festival operations start at 1:00 PM. At 3:00 PM, the barrel rolling takes place — teams roll beer barrels through a marked course, a traditional festival game of the Lake Constance region. At 5:00 PM, the famous scrap boat race starts — teams build their own boats from 'scrap' (wood scraps, plastic bottles, old tires) and compete in an evaluation based on speed, creativity, and originality. Around 10:15 PM — as a 'romantic conclusion' — there will be a large fireworks display over Lake Constance. For Saturday evening from 4 PM onwards, a wristband is required (advance sale €3, box office €5; children under 16 free).
Sunday — Festival Service and Mini-Disco
Sunday, July 26th, 2026, begins at 10:00 AM with a festival service directly at the harbour — outdoors in good weather. From 11:00 AM, the children's mini-disco with child-friendly hits and simple games will take place. Afterwards, festival operations with catering and live music until the evening. Free admission again on Sundays.
Stilt Houses and Lake Constance Atmosphere
The festival's location is one of its greatest strengths: right on Lake Constance, with views of the stilt houses and the Swiss side of the lake. On warm summer evenings, it offers an almost Mediterranean atmosphere — many visitors combine the harbour festival with a boat trip on Lake Constance, a visit to the stilt houses, or a tour to the nearby island of Mainau.
Uhldingen-Mühlhofen on Lake Constance
The municipality of Uhldingen-Mühlhofen, with its approximately 7,800 inhabitants, is located on the northern shore of Lake Constance in the Bodenseekreis district. It consists of the districts of Uhldingen (Mittel- and Oberuhldingen), Mühlhofen, and Unteruhldingen on the lake. With the stilt houses as a UNESCO World Heritage site and direct access to the lake, it is one of the most important tourist destinations on the northern shore of Lake Constance.
